Temp Associate Scientist - In Vivo Cardio/Renal Diseases

Pay Range: $51.33 - $65.54/hr

Onsite Role in Tarrytown, NY

12 Month Contract 

The Cardiovascular Research subgroup that conducts studies in the area of renal diseases requires a highly motivated and versatile individual capable of performing In vivo duties including (but not limited to) compound dosing, blood sampling, tissue collection, urine collection, surgical support and animal health monitoring in both mice and rats. These methodologies/protocols have already been developed and approved, so an individual is proficient with performing procedures on animals is highly desired.

 

 

A Typical Day in the Role Might Look Like:

  • Independently perform the following in vivo duties: drug dosing (subcutaneous, intraperitoneal, intravenous) blood collection for serum and plasma, urine collection and tissue collection.
  • Provide surgical support including anesthesia, analgesia, pre-op preparation and post-op care
  • Trainable to support and independently perform model induction of acute and chronic kidney diseases
  • Capable of learning new methods and/or technologies relevant to the projects
  • Able to routinely work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Perform routine calculations for drug formulation and dosing, manipulations with minimal supervision
  • Outstanding ability to communicate experimental results to project team and/or supervisor and present data at team meetings
  • Accurately document findings and lab records in laboratory notebook and as soft copies.

 

This Role Might Be For You If You Possess:

  • The ability to work optimally in a team environment and capacity to quickly adapt to changes in project direction.
  • A proven record of publications with creative, productive, and insightful statistical-based analysis.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills and interpersonal skills to support frequent interactions with collaborators.

 

This role requires a BS/MS in a scientific field with basic understanding and knowledge of cardiovascular biology with an emphasis on renal diseases. Experience with animal handling in both mice and rats required. Familiarity with sample collection (blood,urine and tissue) and proficiency in administration of compounds (via s.c/i.p/i.v routes) a plus. Experience in rodent surgery is desired.
